In the spirit of making the most of this summer, something I wrote about in this post, we’ve been working on our “summer list” for a few weeks now. In fact, our first official brainstorming session for the list began in the car on the way home from McCall. That weekend was not just a lot of fun, it was inspiring. It got us thinking about what we really want to be doing with our lives, with our family, with our free time. And laundry got bumped wayyyyy down the priority list.
It’s been so much fun putting this list together – together. Violet was a huge part of it. It’s been THE topic of discussion at the dinnertable – nearly every night Violet says “I have an idea! Let’s work on our summer list!” She came up with many, if not most, of the activities on it entirely on her own. We included everything she wanted to do, with the exception of “Go to Africa.” Maybe that one will make it on next year’s list.
But for 2011, this is what we came up with. I promised Violet we’d print it up so we can hang it on the wall and keep track of what we’ve done (lots already!):
