There Are Baby Albums, And Then There’s This Beauty

Not surprisingly, we have a LOT of photos of Violet, and Ruby is destined to enjoy (suffer?) the same fate. So photo albums are at a premium around here. Aunt Meagan made a gorgeous album for Violet when she was a baby, and when Ruby was born, Aunt Meagan and Aunt Amy were quick to commemorate Ruby’s arrival with a very special album of her own.

Like Violet’s, Ruby’s is full of handcrafted pages, each one different from the next and intricately embellished; the cover itself is a work of art. But they took Ruby’s album one step further, enclosing with it a coordinating calendar, the pages of which are designed to be removed and inserted into the album. The instructions that accompanied the set were these: use the calendar to record milestones of Ruby’s first year, incorporating the pages into the album as the months pass. Each month we’ll also take a photo of Ruby in the same chair, and include that image in the album on the page opposite the calendar entry for that month.

It’s a gift we’ll cherish not only for all the time and talent that went into it, but because it’s a beautiful way to preserve memories of how Ruby grows and changes throughout this first year. It’s hard to believe the first month is already behind us. Here is Ruby’s first photo on the chair I chose to use for the project:
