My two best friends since, well, forever, and I don’t get to see a lot of each other. Mandy still lives in Tulsa with her hubby Pat and their now three kids: Maddy, Lola, and Charlie. Ginger and Allen have been in Guam for a few years now – their daughter, Fern, was born there two years ago. That’s right – Guam. Did I mention we don’t get to see each other much? So when Ginger (and Al and Fern) planned a trip stateside to visit family last month, and they were going to be just hours from Mandy, who had just had baby # 3 (Charlie), I had to go. The three of us hadn’t seen each other in a year and a half, and with 6 kids involved, and loooooong distances . . . who knew when the next opportunity would be.
So I packed up my girls: a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old, and we flew from Boise to Denver to Tulsa. Just us girls; as in, no Eric. I was terrified; turns out, for no good reason. Not only did we make it through two flights and a layover with no problems, we had a blast in my old hometown with both my girls, and their girls (and Al and Charlie, of course). And we even managed to pay a visit to a few of my family members while we were there. And even more amazing, we survived delays on the return trip that stranded us in the Denver airport for SEVEN HOURS. Seven hours, and not a single temper tantrum or other emotional breakdown, on any of our parts. I had more fun on this “adventure” with my two girls than I had ever thought possible. Hopefully it was good practice for our next big adventure: we’re heading to Germany in September for Kyle and Annett’s wedding! We’ll take Dada along for this one.
Wish I had shot some photos of the whole gang while we were there, but opted to hang out instead of hide behind the camera, so I’ve got nothin’ of the whole group. I did take a couple of Violet checking out Maddy and Lola’s trampoline, though! Here they are, better late than never . . .
Jump!
(I think she liked it.)
